Deshauna Selby- Barber History

With Charlotte growing, Deshauna Selby interviewed some of the Queen City’s barbers at the local barbershop.   Some have been giving barber service in Charlotte for 15 years to create and witness lots of history for their community.  The community barbershops create a family of different walks of life.  Barbers take pride in their job by not just cutting hair, but seeing how Charlotte has grown since the opening of their local shop.  Business has been good, but the history created over the years has been better.  Watch how the different barbers take pride in the Queen City.

 


My Grandma Winnie Mandela

Most people know Winne Mandela by her position to her husband, but this story is different.  Her grandson talks about this phenomenal woman as his caregiver.  Grandma Winnie taught her grandson morals and principals for helping people.  Although she is a busy woman, she still helps her grandson with his education and teaches him to be respectful   He is thankful that she pushed him to attend a university in the United States.  Check out this video of Grandma Winnie!

Fred Hampton as an Unsung Hero.

This video shows the Black Panther party as a whole with the focus on their leading activist Fred Hampton.  His story is explained and elaborated through pictorial illustrations and tunes.  The brutal murder of Hampton shocked all of Chicago.  The Rev. Jesse Jackson stated that people in Chicago bled everywhere after the death of Fred Hampton.
